We are very pleased to have been awarded a £7,000 grant from the John Fell Oxford University Press Research Fund.

Researchers in the CLD project are conducting fieldwork in states from Vanuatu, through Southeast Asia to Hungary. The overall aim is to compare and contrast the different approaches the Chinese are using to interact with host states’ legal and regulatory systems, and to understand the implications for global economic development and trade.

This supplementary grant will support additional in-country data gathering in countries in Africa, Latin America and Oceania as well as new countries in Asia. This evidence will then be used to expand the scope of the CLD cross-country comparative analysis.
