An interdisciplinary study of the role of law in China’s global development

Justin Monsenepwo lectures in international economic law and commercial private international law at the University of Johannesburg (South Africa) and the Shanghai University of Political Science and Law (China). He was a doctoral student at the Julius Maximilian University of Würzburg (Germany), from where he also holds an LL.M. in international and European business law. His doctoral research explored the law applicable to security interests in securities held with an intermediary under the law of the Organization for the Harmonization of Business Law in Africa. Justin is now based at the Max Planck Institute, Hamburg. Justin also works at the German Notary Association and has consulted for governments, the private sector, and intergovernmental organizations (such as the Hague Conference on Private International Law) in commercial private international law, rule of law, and trade policy in Africa. Justin’s publications include books and articles on the harmonization of business law and private international law in Africa, among others.
