Nurayim Syrgak Kyzy is an anthropologist and environmental activist. She holds a Master's Degree in Anthropology from the American University in Central Asia, Kyrgyzstan and additionally studied Peace and Security Studies in Hamburg University, Germany. Since graduation, she has been working as a research consultant for national and regional offices of UN organizations, GIZ and other international organizations on various fields: peace and religious studies, youth informal employment, women entrepreneurship and COVID-19 impact on youth. Her research will focus on Chinese gold mines and how various actors instrumentalize legal procedures, norms and standards to promote their interests and how it shapes the concept of state making in the Kyrgyzstan context.
