Thembi Madalane is a PhD Candidate in international law at the University of Szeged (Hungary). Her current research is on investor-state dispute resolution mechanisms, in the context of the EU-China Comprehensive Agreement on Investment. In particular, it seeks to explore China’s influence on alternative dispute resolution mechanisms in international investment agreements.
Broadly, she is interested in international development with interdisciplinary research between law, economics, and finance. She has work experience in investment and banking institutions as an analyst and risk manager. In academia, she has taught university courses in international business, sustainability, and international investment arbitration.
Thembi holds an LLM in international law from Wuhan University(China), a Bcom Honours in Financial Analysis & Portfolio Management from the University of Cape Town and a Bcom Economics from the University of Pretoria (South Africa).
